A treatment with fillers?
As we get older, less subcutaneous connective tissue and elastin are produced. At the same time, this is broken down more quickly, especially with a lot of sun exposure. This will make the skin less firm, causing wrinkles.
What are fillers exactly?
Fillers have been developed for aesthetic facial treatments: to effectively reduce unwanted wrinkles, improve facial contour and restore volume. For example, nose to mouth lines, drooping mouth corners, enlarging the lips, the lines in the upper lip or to accentuate cheekbones. The fillers are a soft gel based on stabilized hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in almost all living organisms. It binds water and acts as a lubricant in, among other things, the joints. Furthermore, it is important for the transport of all building materials and it regulates the water balance of the skin.
Treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers
The doctor will discuss with you which places you want to be treated. Photos can be taken to monitor the effect in the future. If necessary, a numbing cream is applied and must be applied and left on for a short time. Often anaesthetic is not necessary because of the very thin needles that are used. Then your face is disinfected.
Hyaluronic acid gel is injected into the skin via a fine needle or cannula. This creates volume and makes the skin look younger. Wrinkles and lines will fade, giving you a softer, natural look. After the treatment, a light massage is often given to the treated area. given in the treated area.
Aftercare
Make-up can be applied again from the following day. Sometimes a slight redness, swelling or bruising may be present. These generally disappear quickly. Avoid pressure on the treated area for a few days and avoid exposure to sunlight in case of a bruise.
After treatment you should not exercise the same day or rub in the treated area. You should also avoid alcohol for a few days. You do not need to massage the area unless the doctor instructs you otherwise.
You will immediately see the effect of a filler treatment. The optimum result will be present after about two weeks as the fillers also attract a little moisture so that their effect is enhanced.
How long does the filler work?
How long the filler works depends on the type of filler, the treated area and the metabolism. The result lasts for 6-12 months. If a lighter hyaluronic acid is chosen, the effect has a shorter duration than if a firmer hyaluronic acid is chosen. When the filler is applied in loose and mobile tissue such as the lips, the duration of action is also shorter; about 6 to 9 months.
The effect of fillers therefore remains visible for 6 months to more than a year depending on the product and the treated area. However, it is not advisable to wait until the result has disappeared, but to come back before everything is worked out. Such a touch-up treatment will require less volume than the original treatment, there will be no yo-yo effect and the face will retain the favorable result.
